UBTECH Launches 10,000-Unit Humanoid Robot Factory That Builds a New Robot Every 10 Minutes

Liuzhou, China β€” Chinese robotics maker UBTECH Robotics has officially switched on what it calls the world’s first intelligent manufacturing facility built for 10,000-unit-scale humanoid robot production, marking a major step in the shift from robot prototypes to full industrial-scale manufacturing.

The company commissioned its “Industrial Humanoid Robot Super Smart Factory” in Liuzhou, in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with a commissioning ceremony held in the city’s Northern Ecological New Area. UBTECH says the plant can complete one industrial humanoid robot every 10 minutes, giving it a planned annual capacity exceeding 10,000 units.

Inside the Factory

The facility spans roughly 14,000 square meters (about 150,700 square feet) with a building height of 13.8 meters (45 feet). It primarily manufactures two robot lines: the Walker S series and the Cruzr series of embodied-intelligence industrial and service robots, including models such as the Walker S2 and the Cruzr S2 and Y1 wheeled platforms.

Rather than dedicating separate lines to each model, UBTECH built a flexible, mixed-model production system that lets different robot types move down the same line without major retooling. On the factory floor, humanoid robots themselves handle tasks like depalletizing, palletizing, and material loading, while collaborative robotic arms paired with 360-degree rotating stations tighten screws during assembly β€” a setup UBTECH describes as “robots building robots.”

A Digital “Smart Brain”

The plant runs on a manufacturing operations management system co-developed with Germany’s Siemens Digital Industries Software, integrating UBTECH’s Yanshee platform with Siemens’ Intelligence Center X. UBTECH describes this system as the factory’s “smart brain,” managing work-order scheduling, material distribution, and quality monitoring in a fully digital closed loop.

Before construction began, UBTECH and Siemens reportedly built a 1:1 digital twin of the plant in Siemens Plant Simulation to test whether the 10-minute production pace could hold up without bottlenecks in areas like tote returns and AGV (automated guided vehicle) traffic. Every robot that comes off the line also gets a unique serial number, enabling full traceability from parts to finished product.

Part of a Bigger Race

UBTECH’s launch lands amid intensifying competition in China’s humanoid robotics sector. According to industry figures, Chinese manufacturers accounted for the large majority of humanoid robot installations worldwide in 2025, led by AgiBot and Unitree. Unitree recently listed on Shanghai’s Star Market, raising roughly $910 million, while rival firms including Leju Robotics have also announced their own 10,000-unit-capacity production lines.

Globally, the facility positions UBTECH alongside other companies racing to industrialize humanoid robot production, including Tesla’s Optimus program and Figure AI’s manufacturing efforts. UBTECH says the ultimate goal behind the automation push is to drive down unit costs enough to make humanoid robots commercially viable for industrial buyers β€” a milestone the company argues pulls Chinese humanoid robotics out of the “lab prototype” stage and into large-scale intelligent manufacturing.
